This website is an evolving archive of the life and work of Zachary Golub Rosen (1989-2019).

On this site — in Music — you can find over three dozen of Zack’s original songs, both as he performed them and as interpreted by others. [NOTE: The recordings of Zack’s gigs as a singer-songwriter are temporarily inaccessible but will be made public at a future date.] Home recordings of a few other songs are also being held back at this time.

In Bands, you can watch and listen to Zack’s outstanding work as an electric and upright bass player with four groups he played and recorded with, each for several years. And in Other Music, you’ll see and hear some of the many other ensembles Zack performed and recorded with.

In Writing, you will find some of Zack’s essays, philosophical musings, and his song lyrics.

In Mementos, you can learn much more about Zack’s life. We hope you’ll watch and read the many tributes paid to Zack by friends, family, and teachers in the Eulogies and Zine from his memorial. We have also included mementos from Zack’s childhood and teen years.

Too many people to name were involved in the creation of this site, but extra special thanks go to Nick Singer, who not only designed the architecture and overall look and feel of the site, but also did an incredible amount of the heavy lifting: learning WordPress; sorting and organizing a vast amount of content; even typing all the song lyrics, section headers and more on an old manual typewriter. We have come, by the way, to refer to that graphic style, seen throughout the site, as “ransom-note fortune-cookie” and it was inspired by No Land’s design for the memorial zine. No Land also took the homepage photo of Zack and others on the site. Connor Grant and Daniel Knobler each contributed and curated vast amounts of audio and video content. Sam Silver and Ned Myerberg were guiding lights in the development of this site and contributed content in their possession as well as introductory notes to some of Zack’s academic papers. On the tech front, Jacob Blumberg helped us get started when we had no idea how to begin, and Ben Cohen was our savior more than once when we got hopelessly lost in the weeds, or the woods, or maybe the weeds in the woods.

We (Zack’s parents and friends) consider the site a work-in-progress and welcome both feedback and contributions of relevant content. Contact info@zack-rosen.com.
