Flearoy began in Zack’s sophomore year of college when guitarist Dan Knobler and vocalist Jon Seale invited Zack to play bass on some new songs they had written. They quickly added drummer Jason Burger on drums and Matt Porter on keyboards. They modestly described their unique sound as “some combination of soul and folk” or “Americana with a heavy backbeat.” Flearoy released its first of several albums in 2009. They played dozens of gigs at top NYC venues and toured up and down the east coast. Their acoustic cover of the Destiny’s Child hit, “Say My Name,” has been streamed several million times on Spotify and YouTube. Flearoy became the house band for Mason Jar Music — a production company formed by Dan and Jon — where they recorded with many outstanding singer/songwriters.
